Red Cedar Community Church (RCCC)
Acceptable Computer/Internet Usage Agreement

It is the policy of Red Cedar Community Church that its facilities be used to fulfill its mission, vision, and values of knowing God and making Him known. RCCC facilities are not available for unrestricted use for other purposes. Persons authorized to access RCCC’s Internet facilities are responsible for maintaining the privacy and security of these facilities, which include electronically stored data and software.

As in the case for other similar church facilities such as telephone services, computing and Internet, electronic mail and network facilities are not intended to be used for personal gain; they are not provided as a medium for free expression when unrelated to the ministry of the church. RCCC forbids the use of its facilities for commercial or illegal activities. All users must use computing equipment, software, and network access in a manner consistent with appropriate church policies. Communications that violate Wisconsin, federal, local or international laws are unacceptable. Activities that interfere with the ability of others to make effective use of church computing and network resources are prohibited. You may be subject to criminal prosecution if you: access or release unauthorized information/data; intentionally disclose your password to another who uses it to gain unauthorized access to information; or fail to exercise adequate care in maintaining system security. Using the network in a harmful or harassing manner is prohibited.

THE USE OF THE INTERNET NETWORK IS A PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT, which may be revoked at any time for abusive conduct. Users of the computers/Internet will not use their account to obtain, view, download, or otherwise gain access to potentially objectionable materials. This includes text materials, video images, or sound files that may be considered objectionable. Such conduct would include, the placing of unlawful information on a system, the use of abusive or otherwise objectionable language in either public or private messages, the sending of messages that are likely to result in the loss of recipients’ work or systems, the sending of “chain letters,” or “broadcast” messages to list or individuals, and any other types of use which would cause congestion of the networks or otherwise interfere with the work of others. Information services and features contained on the RCCC network are intended for the private use of its users. Any commercial or other unauthorized use of those materials, in any form, is expressly forbidden. IF GUIDELINES OR WI, FEDERAL, LOCAL, OR INTERNATIONAL LAWS ARE VIOLATED, USERS MAY BE SUBJECT TO DISCIPLINE OR DISMISSAL FROM EMPLOYMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHURCH POLICIES.

Red Cedar Community Church does not warrant that the functions of the system will meet any specific requirements you may have, or that it will be error-free or uninterrupted; nor shall it be liable for any direct or indirect, incidental, or consequencal damages (including lost data, stolen property, information, or profits) sustained or incurred in connection with the use, operation, or storing of files as well as computers and all other hardware left on church property.

It is prohibited to delete, examine, copy, or modify files and/or data belonging to other users without their prior consent. Commercial software is placed on computers and the network for the use and convenience of users. Any unlawful use such as the copying of copyrighted material without the express written permission of the owner or the proper license is prohibited. RCCC is the owner of any information found on its servers as well as material prepared for its use. This excludes material such as sermons, curriculum, teaching aids, which is the property of the individual who created the material. The copying and removal of such information without permission is unacceptable and could result in disciplinary action.

Red Cedar Community Church reserves the right to inspect any material stored in files on RCCC’s servers as well as any computer hard drive owned and/or operated for church ministry use. RCCC has the right to edit or remove any material which it, in its sole discretion, believes may be objectionable. Any unauthorized, deliberate action which damages or disrupts a computing system (including the willful introduction of computer “viruses” or other disruptive/destructive programs), alters its normal performance, or causes it to malfunction is prohibited. Intentional attempts to “crash” network systems or programs are punishable disciplinary offenses.

The above agreement is not meant to be exhaustive. The eldership (staff and elder board) and/or any person or persons appointed by them is the final authority on questions of acceptable use of the network. Until an issue is resolved, questionable use should be considered unacceptable. All users are expected to take all reasonable measures, given the constraints of technology and management practices, to ensure that traffic entering RCCC from other networks conforms to this agreement. The RCCC Network should not be considered a secure network and should not be relied upon for transmitting confidential or sensitive information. By signing this form you agree that you understand the concerns and potential penalties for violating computer security standards and agree to take necessary action to ensure that the security and integrity of computer based information is maintained. You understand that you represent the public image of the church each and every time you access the Internet from RCCC’s Network. You agree to take all precautions to maintain RCCC’s professional integrity and public image. Further, you agree NEVER TO DISCLOSE YOUR PASSWORD TO UNATHORIZED PERSONS. ACCEPTABLE COMPUTER/INTERNET USAGE AGREEMENT I have read the Red Cedar Community Church Acceptable Computer/Internet Usage Agreement, understand it, and agree to adhere to the principles and procedures listed within. I also understand that additional rules and regulations may be added from time to time and that they become a part of this agreement. Should I break this agreement, I understand that I may lose all computer/Internet privileges. I also understand that inappropriate or illegal use of computer facilities could result in civil or criminal lawsuits and/or loss of employment.
